Descendants of Edmond Cole

I.       Edmond Cole was born in 1579 in Heston Parish, England. He was married to Anna Bryan.

         Anna Bryan. Edmond and Anna had the following children:

II.     Thomas Cole was born December 30, 1604. He was married to Susan Duff Colle.

         Susan Duff Colle. Thomas and Susan had the following children:

III.    Thomas Cole was born February 16, 1627/28. He was married to Jane Lucy.

         Jane Lucy. Thomas and Jane had the following children:

IV.    Stephen Cole, Sr. was born in 1660 in Twickenham, Middlesex, England. He was married to Elizabeth Temple in 1685 in Chester, Pennsylvania. He died in 1729 in Chester, Pennsylvania. He was buried in St. Paul’s Episcopal Cemetery in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Elizabeth Temple was born in 1662 in Twickenham, Middlesex, England. She died in September, 1732. She was buried in the Cole plot at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Chester, Pennsylvania. Stephen and Elizabeth had the following children:

         a.      Elizabeth Cole. She was married to Thomas Wilcocks on March 6, 1727 in Holy Trinity Lutheran (Ole Swedes) Church in New Castle Co., Pennsylvania, (now Delaware.) She died in May, 1780 in Ivy Mills, Delaware Co., Pennsylvania.

         b.      Mark Cole. He was married to Allis Evans. He died in 1769 in Craven Co., South Carolina.

         c.       John Cole. He died in 1781.

         d.      Stephen Cole, Jr. He was married to Martha Hunter in 1726 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chester, Pennsylvania. He died April 1, 1745 in Chester, Pennsylvania. He was buried in the Cole plot at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Chester, Pennsylvania.

         V.     James Cole, Sr. was born in 1695. He died in 1775 in Natchez, Jefferson Co., British Mississippi.

Mark, John, and James Cole migrated to the Shenandoah River/Opeckon River area of Frederick Co., Virginia by 1732. They migrated to the Roanoke River/Goose Creek area in Lunenburg Co.,(later Bedford Co.) Virginia around 1742. This group was headed by George Robinson and also included James, Peter and Stephen Rentfroe. They migrated to Anson Co., North Carolina around 1757. They migrated to Craven Co., South Carolina around 1764. Mark died while living in Craven Co., South Carolina. James migrated to Natchez District, British Mississippi in October, 1772 in a party that included Richard Curtis III, William Curtis, Benjamin Curtis, Richard Curtis IV, John and Hannah Curtis Courtney, John and Phoebe Curtis Stampley, John Jones, James and Mary Rentfroe Cole Jr., and their families.

A-1   James Cole, Jr. was born about 1730 in New Castle, Delaware. He migrated to the Shenandoah River/Opeckon River area of Frederick Co., Virginia by 1732. He died in 1794 in Coles Creek, Natchez District, British Mississippi.

Mary Rentfroe was born in 1736 in Crook Run, Orange Co., Virginia. She was the daughter of James Rentfroe and Esther Van Bibber. She migrated to Roanoke River/Goose Creek area in Lunenburg Co., (later Bedford Co.) Virginia around 1742. She migrated to Ashpole Swamp, Bladen Co., North Carolina around 1757. She migrated to Craven Co., South Carolina around 1764. She migrated to Coles Creek, Natchez District, British Mississippi in 1772. She died in 1810 in Coles Creek, Adams Co., Territory of Mississippi. James and Mary had the following children:

         B-1   John Cole was born about 1756 on Black Water River, Bedford Co., Virginia. He migrated to Ashpole Swamp, Bladen Co., North Carolina around 1757. He migrated to Craven Co., South Carolina around 1764. He migrated to Coles Creek, Natchez District, British Mississippi in 1772. He was married to Susannah Spell in Natchez District, Mississippi. He died in 1812 in Coles Creek, Jefferson Co., Territory of Mississippi.

                   Susannah Spell. John and Susannah had the following children:

                   C-1   Susannah Cole was born April 18, 1792 in Natchez District, Spanish Mississippi. She was married to Prosper King on April 22, 1807. She died September 12, 1843 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi. She was buried in Salem Baptist Cemetery in Jefferson Co., Mississippi.

Prosper King was born March 13, 1767. He died February 27, 1827 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi. He was buried in Salem Baptist Cemetery in Jefferson Co., Mississippi.

         B-2   Stephen Cole was born about 1758 in Ashpole Swamp, Bladen Co., North Carolina. He migrated to Craven Co., South Carolina around 1764. He migrated to Coles Creek, Natchez District, Spanish Mississippi in 1772. He was married to Ann . He died in 1798 in Claiborne Co., Mississippi.

                   Ann . Stephen and Ann had the following children:

                   C-1   John Cole was born about 1786 in Coles Creek, Natchez District, Spanish Mississippi. He was married to Esther Huffman on July 17, 1807 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.

                   C-2   James Cole was born about 1788 in Coles Creek, Natchez District, Spanish Mississippi. He was married to Betty Robinson on August 20, 1807 in Pickering Co., (now Claiborne Co.) Mississippi.

                   C-3   William Cole was born about 1790 in Coles Creek, Natchez District, Spanish Mississippi. He was married to Polly Robinson on January 21, 1809 in Pickering Co., (now Clairborne Co.) Mississippi.

                   C-4   Sarah Cole was born about 1792 in Coles Creek, Natchez District, Spanish Mississippi.

                   C-5   Jennie Cole was born about 1794 in Coles Creek, Natchez District, Spanish Mississippi.

                   C-6   Mary Cole was born about 1796 in Coles Creek, Natchez District, Spanish Mississippi. She was married to John Bolls on March 7, 1811 in Jefferson Co., Territory of Mississippi.

         B-6   William Cole was born about 1766 in Craven Co., South Carolina. He migrated to Coles Creek, Natchez District, British Mississippi in 1772. He was married to Susannah in Natchez, Mississippi. He migrated to St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana after 1819.

         B-7   Sarah Cole was born about 1768 in Craven Co., South Carolina. She migrated to Coles Creek, Natchez District, British Mississippi in 1772. She was married to Robert Miller on July 25, 1790 in Natchez, Spanish Mississippi. She died probably in Adams Co., Mississippi.

         B-8   Mary Rentfroe Cole was born about 1770 in Craven Co., South Carolina. She migrated to Coles Creek, Natchez District, British Mississippi in 1772. She was married to Jacob Stampley in about 1787 in Jefferson Co., Spanish Mississippi. She died March 18, 1815 in Stampley Station, Jefferson Co., Mississippi. She was buried in Stampley Cemetery in Jefferson Co., Mississippi.

Jacob Stampley was born about 1763 in Switzerland. He was the son of Henry Stampley and Margaret . He migrated to Coles Creek, Natchez District, British Mississippi in 1772. He died September 7, 1826 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi. Jacob and Mary had the following children:

                   C-1   John Iland Stampley was born April 18, 1789 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi. He was married to Elizabeth Compton in 1814. He died December 5, 1846.

Elizabeth Compton was born April 20, 1797. She was the daughter of Stephen Compton and Susan . She died December 10, 1842. John and Elizabeth had the following children:

                             D-1   Stephen Stampley was born July 18, 1815. He was married to Elizabeth Geoghehan. He died August 10, 1873.

                             D-2   Richard Zibidee Stampley was born November 17, 1818. He was married to Louisa Holmes on September 14, 1837. He died July 11, 1846.

                             D-3   Zenobia Stampley was born in 1820. She was married to John Burch.

                             D-4   Mariah Stampley was born September 9, 1824. She was married to Phillip Doherty on October 14, 1841. She died October 30, 1853.

                             D-5   Jalone Stampley was born March 9, 1827. He was married to (1)Director Stampley on October 10, 1849. He was married to (2)Eleanor Smith on June 2, 1868.

                             D-6   Maybella A. Stampley was born in 1828. She was married to Jacob Stampley on June 10, 1847 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi.

Jacob Stampley was born January 22, 1825. He was the son of James Stampley and Director Smith. Jacob and Maybella had the following children:

                                       E-1   Henry Stampley was born July 22, 1850.

                                       E-2   Emma Stampley was born July 3, 1854.

                                       E-3   Naomi Julia Stampley was born in 1857.

                                       E-4   Robert Lee Stampley was born in 1866.

                             D-7   Susan A. Stampley was born July 26, 1829. She was married to G. Walker Nash on December 2, 1847. She died June 17, 1850.

                             D-8   Zoarm Stampley was born in 1833. She was married to (1)John C. Stamps on December 16, 1847. She was married to (2)Alexander B. Compton. She died before 1871.

                             D-9   Naomi Stampley was born April 2, 1837. She was married to (1)Frederick Chambliss on June 24, 1855. She was married to (2)Gabrielle Fowler on September 4, 1862.

                             D-10 Victoria Stampley was born in 1839. She was married to Thomas Jenkins.

                   C-2   Martha Stampley was born September 25, 1791. She was married to Nimrod Selser on October 13, 1808.

Nimrod Selser was born January 24, 1787. He was the son of George Selser and Rachel Newman. He died August 18, 1875. Nimrod and Martha had the following children:

                             D-1   Isaac M Selser was born August 21, 1809. He died July 26, 1812.

                             D-2   Mary N. Selser was born February 7, 1811. She was married to William Rusk on February 24, 1828. She died July 4, 1833.

                             D-3   Pandeau Selser was born December 10, 1812. She was married to James A. Bass on August 2, 1832.

                             D-4   Rachel Selser was born February 20, 1815. She was married to John Henry Harmonson on February 4, 1833.

                             D-5   Susanna N. Selser was born May 9, 1817. She was married to Edward L. Harmonson on May 9, 1833.

                   C-3   Susanna Stampley was born November 13, 1793. She was married to Charles Hopkins in 1810. She was married to Charles Hopkins.

                             Charles Hopkins. Charles and Susanna had the following children:

                             D-1   Valentine Hopkins was born January 18, 1812 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi.

                             D-2   Hiram Hopkins was born March 3, 1815 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi.

                   C-4   James Henry Stampley was born April 1, 1795 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi. He was married to Director Smith on January 1, 1824. He died August 21, 1858.

Director Smith was born about 1807 in Warren Co., Mississippi. She died about 1860 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi. James and Director had the following children:

                             D-1   Jacob Stampley was born January 22, 1825. He was married to Maybella Stampley on June 10, 1847 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi.. He died after 1880.

Maybella Stampley was born in 1828. She was the daughter of John Stampley and Elizabeth Compton. Jacob and Maybella had the following children:

                                       E-1   Samuel E. Stampley was born in November, 1848.

                                       E-2   Susan Stampley was born in 1849.

                                       E-3   Henry Evans Stampley was born July 22, 1850. He was married to Kate Dunbar on April 9, 1871. He died December 31, 1902.

Kate Dunbar was born October 26, 1850. She was the daughter of Dr. Joe O. Dunbar and Celeste Fowler. She died November 29, 1926 in Jefferson Co., Mississippi. Henry and Kate had the following children:

                                                 F-1    Enola Stampley was born June 17, 1872. He was married to Posey D. French on August 20, 1890.

                                                 F-2    Evans Acinth Stampley was born November 12, 1874. She was married to (1)Thomas Dove on August 24, 1892. She was married to (2)W. H. Bards.

                                                 F-3    Mary Celeste Stampley was born in 1876. She was married to Benjamin Dove on September 9, 1896.

                                                 F-4    Ida Beatrice Stampley was born in 1878. She was married to Frank Phillips.

                                                 F-5    Joseph Dunbar Stampley was born in 1879. He was married to Ednor Erwin.

                                                 F-6    Henry Evans Stampley was born January 8, 1880. He was married to Annie Harrison on July 4, 1910. He died May 1, 1936.

                                       E-4   Emma Emily Stampley was born in 1854. She was married to Ira Philon Martin in April 3, 1872.

                                       E-5   Naomi Julia Stampley was born in 1857. She was married to Colombus Kinstley.

                                       E-6   Robert Lee Stampley was born in 1866. He was married to Louvenia Stampley on May 6, 1890.

                             D-2   Carolina Mathilda Stampley was born September 20, 1829. She was married to Orange S. Miles on June 13, 1847. She died May 25, 1848.

                             D-3   Louvicie Stampley was born in 1832. She was married to James S. Evans on June 13, 1851. She died in 1854.

                             D-4   Minerva Stampley was born in 1834. She was married to (1)Daniel Bradford Truly. She was married to (2)Tom Waggoner.

                             D-5   Martha B. Stampley was born in 1835. She was married to Morel Rowland on October 2, 1854.

                             D-6   James Reddick Stampley was born in 1839. He was married to Alice Dramgoole.

                             D-7   Clara Dora Stampley was born in 1842.

                   C-5   Jacob E. Stampley was born October 16, 1796. He was married to (1)Mary Flower on March 27, 1823. He was married to (2)Maria Compton on October 15, 1834. He died in 1838.

(1)Mary Flower. She was the daughter of Jesiah Flower. Jacob and Mary had the following children:

                             D-1   Jane Stampley was born February 4, 1824. She was married to Israel S. Hinds on May 25, 1841.

                             D-2   Mary C. Stampley was born March 27, 1825. She was married to J. L. Wells.

(2)Maria Compton was born about 1805. She was the daughter of Stephen Compton. She died June 9, 1864. Jacob and Maria had the following children:

                             D-3   Elizabeth Stampley. She was married to Martin.

                             D-4   Susan Stampley. She was married to John Burch.

                             D-5   William Stampley was born in 1836.

                             D-6   Olivia Stampley. She was married to Sommerville.

                   C-6   William Camp Stampley was born August 10, 1798. He was married to Ann Marler on January 27, 1827. He died in 1859.

                   C-7   Solomon Bartlett Stampley was born March 21, 1800. He was married to (1)Julia Ann Corbit on March 22, 1821. He was married to (2)Maria Compton on December 20, 1860. He was married to Sarah T. Fox on January 4, 1866. He died August 27, 1868.

(1)Julia Ann Corbit. She was the daughter of James Corbit. Solomon and Julia had the following children:

                             D-1   Clarissa Stampley was born March 23, 1823. She was married to (1)Scott Watson. She was married to (2)J. R. Wetherley.

                             D-2   Salina Amelia Stampley was born August 26, 1826.

                             D-3   Irene Stampley was born in 1828. She was married to Harris.

                             D-4   Director Stampley was born in 1830. She was married to Zalone Z. Stampley on October 10, 1849.

                             D-5   India Stampley was born August 31, 1832. She was married to (1)Joseph Bass. She was married to (2)Atlas Brown.

                             D-6   Volney Stampley was born in March, 1834. He died in the War Between the States.

                             D-7   Ivie Stampley was born in 1836.

                   C-8   Sarah Minerva Stampley was born December 2, 1801. She was married to (1)Stephen Rowland on August 25, 1818. She was married to (2)David Bradford Truly on February 13, 1835.

(1)Stephen Rowland was born about 1793. Stephen and Sarah had the following children:

                             D-1   Solomon B. Rowland was born March 19, 1818. He was married to Sophia Compton on February 2, 1851. He died June 3, 1872.

                             D-2   Julian C. Rowland was born October 3, 1820.

                             D-3   James Z. Rowland was born November 18, 1826. He was married to Ann Fisher. He died November 14, 1894.

                             D-4   Zenobia Rowland was born in 1829. She was married to Levi Dromgoole on September 2, 1845. She died August 28, 1885.

                             D-5   Morell Rowland was born in 1831. He was married to Martha Stampley on October 2, 1854.

                   C-9   Mary Ursula Stampley was born March 16, 1807. She was married to Alexander Gilbert Dromgoole on November 2, 1826.

Alexander Gilbert Dromgoole was born March 5, 1802. He was the son of James Dromgoole and Frances Alston. He died in 1833. Alexander and Mary had the following children:

                             D-1   Frances Dromgoole was born September 6, 1826.

                             D-2   William Henry Dromgoole was born December 13, 1831. He was married to Louisa Blue on February 15, 1855. He died February 8, 1901.

                   C-9   Rhonda Stampley was born September 28, 1804. She died after 1826.

                   C-10 Nancy Caroline Stampley was born June 2, 1808. She was married to (1)John M. Roberts on October 26, 1826. She was married to (2)Reddick M. Smith on January 31, 1840.
