Ted Castillo was married to Delores Nichols, sister to Mrs S.R.”Etta” West.. Ted Castillo passed away in 1930 and the Rouss Racket Store was sold to a Mr. Oneal. P.W. bought the store in 1933/34 and changed the name to West Dept. Store. This is when T.L Berry moved from Lake Charles and began working for P.W. He died on May 27, 1966 in DeRidder, Louisiana. He was buried in Beauregard Cemetery. He was married to (1) Arthemise Cole on Jun. 20, 1907. He was married to (2) Edna Thomas.

19. Mahlon Holden West was born on Mar. 28, 1834 in Bevil District, Newton Co., Texas. He owned a grist mill in the DeRidder area. When the railroad was making plans to go south toward Lake Charles, Mahlon spent weeks riding horseback through the area to get over 200 names on a petition to the railroad. The petition was effective and the Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Gulf Railroad laid tracks through, and built a depot at DeRidder, Louisiana. Mahlon Street in downtown DeRidder is named after him. He died on Apr. 20, 1907. He was buried in Lewis Cemetery, Ikes, Louisiana. He was married to (1) Lucinda Matillda “Cindy” Collins on Jan 7, 1862. He was married to (2) Liddian Diyese.
